burda march

For a hiliarious review of the March issue of Burda, look at the Selfish Seamstress blog (though I bet you have seen it already).

I had a look today at the preview and was not impressed either. I’m quite sure the top I like best is a rtw top. Don’t you think? There’s a pattern for the “shrest” (thanks Elaine for the word). I won’t be making that one. I do hope Burda has an inspiring issue again soon. Could definitely be me, but I didn’t find the last issues very good.

Otherwise no sewing here, mojo has gone missing and I can’t find it.

  1. I'm buying Burda Magazine since last July and there have been some bad issues, the one from January is pretty lousy and, for what i've seen from this issue, the march magazine is going the same way

  2. I've been underwhelmed too since the new editor took over. Hope you find your mojo. It must have eloped with Debbie Cook's mojo. :)

  3. I haven't been inspired either, but older issues still hold appeal...should I ever get back to sewing something!

  4. I didn't like the Dec and Jan Burdas. This last one was better, but still not great. If they don't improve I will be cancelling my subscription.

  5. Underwhelmed is definitely the word. I take out the pattern sheets when I trace out a pattern. There are a lot of thick magazines in my collection lately. They can't seem to figure out who their customer is.
I wouldn't mind the crappy DIY projects so much if there were some good patterns along with them.

  6. It seems like it's every other issue lately. I'm glad I'm making projects out of the current one, because the next one looks like a snoozer.

  7. I actually did find several patterns that I liked in the February issue...but the entire stretch from October to January was pretty much an inspirational dead zone to me. I'm hoping they step their game up, since I renewed my subscription for another year that starts with the March issue! (Of course, after that was when I discovered that the new Barnes & Noble in my area carries Burda mags, where the Borders did not. So if they don't shape up, I might just start buying selected issues off the rack.)

And thanks for the link to that other review--quite amusing!

  8. Definitely not just you with Burda lately. Boring! Seems to be a lot of slight variations on patterns we've seen over and over again. Let's hope for some dramatic improvement, and soon.

  9. Look for that mojo. Don't let it go missing for long!

  10. Totally agree with the blah-ness of Burda lately. I check it every month and it's so disappointing every time. But I have great hope that they will surprise us with a great inspiring issue for spring. It's a bumpy ride with Burda but I love the 'highs'.

  11. I actually think the March styles are better than the February ones. Like the spring coats - both the reg and plus. I regret buying the Feb issue - there's really nothing I like there at all. Maybe it's because I'm not loving the new boxy "boyfriend" everything that's coming fully into fashion this spring .. so unflattering.
