Can someone explain why photos in magazines often seem to hide the main feature of a pattern? This dress for example, from the March 2012 issue of Knip mode. The main feature is the crossover at center front and it’s completely hidden by the necklace and hands of the model.
Look at the line drawing. Quite a nice pattern.
It was the line drawing that convinced me to try this pattern. I used fabric that I bought in the UK on my last trip visiting Pauline. Who already made other outfits of the same kind of fabric in different prints. It’s a very nice knit, good drape, easy to wear.
This print was used in another color scheme in rtw dresses for prices up to 100 uk pounds. Nice to know my dress only costs 15.
A quick and easy dress. I’m wearing it today and it feels very good. It would have been a tiny bit better with two back darts, I might add them.
Leuke jurk! Ik kan me voorstellen dat je daar het hele jaar rond plezier van hebt. Mooi!
ReplyDeleteLove the unique wrap detail. Very nice dress!
ReplyDeleteThe style lines on this dress work so well with your body shape. Love it!
ReplyDeleteVery chic and pretty. Thank you for not holding your hands over the front...
ReplyDeleteI am convinced that the team of people who produce photographs are oblivious to consumer preferences. They themselves do not buy patterns or sew with them, so they just don't know.Consumers are constantly giving this feedback to pattern companies, but it seems to fall on deaf ears. I once heard someone say about consumers, "it's their job to complain and our job to make money."
ReplyDeleteYou would have completely missed out on a gorgeous dress if you hadn't checked out the line drawing.
ReplyDeleteAnd it is a lovely dress. And so elegant.
Beautiful! Perfect choice of fabric for this dress, and it looks so good on you.
ReplyDeleteI agree about photographers, and yet I still need to train myself to remember to look at line drawings!
love your dress and the fabric is just perfect for it - I bet you will get loads of wear from that dress and as you say for just £15 compared to £100.
ReplyDeleteditto about the photos - crazy I guess they this we are not interested in the actual design, just pretty photos
Ditto on the pics, not only in Knipmode but also in Burda. When do they ever learn?
ReplyDeleteLeuke jurk, weer eens een ander soort overslag, ben het met je eens over die rug darts, geven net even wat meer figuur. Leuke print ook!
I don't get it either. The front feature is brilliant and the reason I would buy the dress/pattern.
ReplyDeleteYou've done a great job with this style and print.
My comment vanished, so I'll keep this simple. You look fabulous!
ReplyDeleteI really like this dress pattern. Looks great on you!

ReplyDeleteWhy indeed? They seem to forget that we actually want to see the garment. It's a pretty, flattering dress; enjoy.
ReplyDeleteThe photograph tells you nothing. It could be any pattern. It looks great great in your fabric
ReplyDeleteOooh...I love this dress! And you're right. If it was'n't for the linedrawing I wouldn't look twice at the picture.
ReplyDeleteSo nice to see this model made up by someone. Now I'm even more convinced I want this in my wardrobe. (And I'll keep the darts in mind).
P.S. What about taking pictures of white clothes against a white background?? KnipMode did that a lot in the past. Sometimes the picture was one white blur. I thought that was so annoying at the time. Why couldn't they see that it served no purpose whatsoever.
A brilliant combination of pattern and fabric. You have such a good eye. Where would we be without the line drawings? Vogue in particular are choosing very weird pictures lately.
ReplyDeleteThat wrap front is a really lovely feature, and it looks so beautiful on you :)
ReplyDeleteOh, I am so in love with that beautiful dress on you. Great design lines and you chose a terrific fabric.
ReplyDeleteGogeous dress on you, Sigrid! What a fabulous pattern but without the technical drawings it would never attract my interest. Dumb photo!
ReplyDeleteThat's very pretty. It seems that the pattern companies are trying to sell their patterns by weird poses on their models. Vogue has some strange photos.
