Van Burda 02 2013 106 |
This is the jacket I’ve sewn last week. It’s from BurdaStyle’s February issue. A full review of it can be found on Pattern Review.
It’s also the last post on this blog for a (little?) while. After almost 6 year of blogging I find it difficult to write something new. Í don’t think it’s interesting to read about the way I construct a jacket for the third, fourth.. time, see yet another bra or t-shirt. Perhaps it’s winter-blues and am I in need of some sunshine and higher temperatures. We’ll see.
Edited to add: Thank you for all your kind words. I’ll be back. Just need a break.
For now happy Easter everyone and till next time.
For what it's worth, I like seeing what you make. You are a very skilled seamstress and you insire me! :)
ReplyDeleteI agree with Kelly's Korner. While I appreciate the construction details too, just seeing your finished projects is inspiration! Thank you, Sigrid. (I think most of us in the northern hemisphere could use some sunlight now too--it's been a long winter).

I do understand the need to take a break, but I do hope you pop in with a picture or a note every now and then!
ReplyDeleteYou will be missed - I have looked on you as an inspiration since I've been blogging :)
I hope you come back soon. It's not necessary to post all the construction details or strive for "something new". Just photos of what you've made. There aren't enough of us "mature" sewing bloggers out there. I like to see what my peers (or at least closer to my age) are making.
ReplyDeleteBTW, you've inspired me to try to get to Amsterdam in the next year or so. Maybe next spring during tulip season. (Mainly so I can visit that shop you've posted about several times with the lingerie fabric.) :)
Happy Easter. I love the details on the jacket and I totally know what you mean about blogging. That being said, I'm just happy to see what you've made whenever you want to show it.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful jacket, I love the wider neckline and the solid piping trim! As for blogging, you have to listen to your heart. I just hope that it's "See you soon" and not "Goodbye". You have an amazing talent seeing your work raises the bar, keeping the rest of us striving to reach that level someday. Thanks for sharing so generously of yourself.
ReplyDeleteBeautifully fitted jacket!
ReplyDeleteDon't go! I like seeing what you do, even when it is a repeat. Your jacket looks fabulous too. I want to rush right out and copy it!
ReplyDeleteWonderful fabric and jacket... enjoy your freedom :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, that jacket fits you superbly. I esp love the back. Sigrid, your how-to posts are great but I keep track of you for the beauty of your garments and the willingness you have to try new things. I do hope you'll just post finished garments as you see fit because otherwise, I'll miss seeing you! ~Mary Beth
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness. I follow your blog all the time and you inspired me to try making my own bras. I use all the information on your blog all the time. Now I feel really guilty because I don't always comment and maybe lack of feedback has been a factor in deciding to take a break. Whatever you decide, thank you for all your generously shared information in the past. Please don't stay away too long.
ReplyDeleteLovely fit. Nice fabric. Enjoy you time away!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful jacket! I will miss you. For me, I don't need to see long posts, I just love to see what people have made - such as this beautiful jacket. Fits beautifully and the edging is perfect.
ReplyDeletePerhaps all the details are notnecessary, but I do love seeing your creations.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing and reading about what you make. I appreciate the time you take to share your sewing adventures. Do take care and come back when you're ready!
ReplyDeleteI always like seeing what you make, it is very inspiring. Have a nice blog vacation and being selfish but hope it isn't too long.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great jacket and it looks wonderful on you. Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy the blogging vacation! You will be missed...
ReplyDeleteYou will be missed! Your blog entries are always inspiring, and you are so accomplished. I have learned a lot from you. Come back if and when you can.
ReplyDeleteI like your interpretation of the jacket. It looks lovely on you.
ReplyDeleteAs for blog posts, I'm with the others. I enjoy seeing what you make. It's inspiring to see how you interpret patterns for your shape and style.
I just wanted to let you know that I really enjoy reading your blog. I can only imagine how time consuming taking pictures of the construction details of a sewing project is. Take a break and relax. (I will still come to check out your blog roll) If it feels right you'll be back.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing all your wonderful sewing knowledge with me.

Wishing you back sooner than you think!
ReplyDeleteLove that jacket... It was one of the reasons I bought that issue. I understand your blues. I started following your blog not long ago... So I'm happy if you repeat patterns... I have been having blues too recently
ReplyDeleteYes, please don't underestimate the joy your readers get from just seeing what you make! I agree that you don't need to repeat yourself in terms of process, but we still like to see the end result!
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break!
I've enjoyed reading your blog and am particularly grateful for the tutorials you have posted over the years.
ReplyDeleteI hope you'll miss us as much as we'll miss you. I love your blog and have learned so much from you.
ReplyDeleteThanks for letting us know that you're taking time off. I hope a little time off (and some spring sunshine) will refresh your spirit, and you'll come back.
Thanks for all your posts! They're so inspirational.
