Wow, Burda August

DSC_0120

Fall is here is the main title on the cover! It’s fall here for months already, summer never really arrived, rain and grey, cold days is all we had. But that’s beyond the point.

If you’ve been reading my blog for some time you know I have been very disappointed in BurdaStyle in the past two years, I stopped moaning about the magazine, but mostly also stopped buying it with one or two exception because I liked 1 pattern in the magazine. This morning in the supermarket I saw the new August Burda and it was for the first time in years that the cover spoke “buy me”.

I made sure the top was in the issue as a pattern (having bought magazines in the past based on the cover picture only to find out later that the item that piqued my interest was a rtw item).

This is an issue to like (of course, personal opinion). Fitted and/or shaped garments are back! I love quite a few patterns. The peplum top is certainly on the to do list now. Line drawings of a few favorites (there are more to like

I hope this is the new direction BurdaStyle magazine takes. What a great issue.

  1. I'm looking forward to this issue too. I haven't gotten mine in the mail yet, but I have been a little worried that they cut the number of patterns because the "full preview" online only has about 20, when there are usually 50 some. Kindof strange!

  2. I like the black peplum top with the floral skirt...that is a great outfit. Will you make a version of that one?

  3. I love the peplum top! I've been disappointed with recent Burda issues as well -- too many boxy shapes and uninteresting details. It looks like the August issue is a winner -- can't wait to get my copy!

  4. Wait, you mean the sack is on the way out?! Hooray! I might have to buy a few more Burdas if they are going to produce more fitted, flattering garments like these--though I really wish they'd add an extra pattern page to spread out the lines a bit more.....if they did those two things, I might even consider *gasp* purchasing a subscription!

  7. Yay for Fall sewing!

    Yay for a better Burda!

Yay for the sewing you are about to do and we get to enjoy. :)

  8. The yellow and black peplum tops are wonderful. Love the floral skirt too. Not sure I am ready to invest in a years worth of Burda, however. I would need to see three or four usable issues before I'd commit.

  9. How about that? A few nice looking patterns.
I may browse through the issue next time I see it for sale. It's been a couple years since I like Burda magazine, too.

  11. I can't agree with you more! The August issue offers only few things that I would not like to sew. All other models are beautiful (to my taste). The August patterns are so feminine, elegant and quite versatile.

  12. Isn't it funny how different issues appeal to different tastes? I've really loved the last year of Burda's more than anything, and while this one is my least favorite, I loved getting this issue, just to see that they will change it up. I love that blazer with the sort of mock tuxedo shape in the front. That would be something special!
