There really is some sewing going on at my place. The top of the active wear set is almost ready as well. Tomorrow I will set up my coverstitch and finish both the top and the pants. In between I spent some time on a dress from Knip Mode February. This post is about fabric though, spring fabric! I’m making all sorts of plans in my head for spring. One of the projects I’m thinking about is a cardigan like this one which I found on the Anthropologie site.
I’ve seen a cardigan like this before in a shop, with very sheer fabric as collar/shawl and have wanted to make something similar since.
These are the fabrics I bought, and I’m not sure yet about the combination to use, most likely it will be the first one. I can make a top from the same fabric to wear with it. This is an off-white, stable knit. The other fabric is cotton, a less formal look.
Any thoughts?
Go for it! I think it will be fabulous!
ReplyDeletei love the inspiration , this is something I haven't seen before, until now
ReplyDeleteI love anthropologie inspired pieces. I would love to see you do this and then give us a tutorial. :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely! I'm with Rachel on Antropologie inspired pieces.
ReplyDeleteThe second combination is closer in feel to the inspiration piece, but I think the first combination goes better together. The whites in the first two pieces properly match. Hope this helps!
ReplyDeleteHow interesting.. Very similar to the January Burda pattern, but with sheer? You're making my brain boil over :-).
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I like the grey cotton no2 option better. Even if the dots in the sheer are in fact true white as the knit, the effect when folded over is visually softer because of the transparency, so the grey looks like a better match. But your live impression may be different, and you may just prefer the more formal option.
I recall a loooong time ago a Burda "Anna" magazine with a very simple coat just like this cardigan and the burda versions, but the "collars" where interchangable so you could have different looks, I don´t recall how they where attached though
ReplyDeleteI like the second combination better--the constrast between the white and black might be a bit much for a casual piece and limit its versatility.
ReplyDeletefor me, i think the second combination is much better. :-)

I like the second combo better, but you know what is in your wardrobe and will work best. I love Anthro clothes, too, just not the price!
ReplyDeleteI love the inspiration! I think either combination will work well --- you can't go wrong!
