Karin from Sweden commented that she saw the Norwegian crown princess in the same dress I made in April in a magazine in yellow. I couldn’t resist to google “norwegian crown princess yellow dress” and quickly found a few pictures of it.
I can’t easily find out from which year/month the pictures are, but it’s definitely the same style. The pictures come from a site “royalsforum.com”, but think copyright is elsewhere. Is the picture on the left a runway picture? If yes, anyone any ideas who the designer is?
ETA: Palma, thank you for the link. Guess who published the runway picture before? Carolyn (sewing fanatic diary). Now I had a clue, further searching shows the image in the rtw fall 2009 collection from Valentino. Here you can see it on Style.com. Nice to know I made a copy of a Valentino dress without knowing I did. It is fun to find something like this.
And this was my dress from a Knip Mode pattern, quite similar.
I think it's exactly the same dress!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! It is definitely the same dress. Did you notice that the waist on the dress on the model is much lower than on the Princess? I find it interesting that the dress was designed for someone without a bust. If designers don't want to design for women, they should just design dresses for men.
ReplyDeletevery nice model and great achievement
ReplyDeleteIt sure looks the same to me. Yours looks even nicer on you.
ReplyDeleteHeb net een nieuwe site gevonden waarmee je dit soort dingen kunt opzoeken en kijk, ik kom uit op Valentino... ;-)

What gorgeous dresses - the yellow version and yours.
ReplyDeleteI don't know the answer, but aren't moments like that awesome??
ReplyDeleteFrom the link above, it seems to be a Valentino. So cool!
ReplyDeleteIt is so the same dress, so fun. The color of your dress is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a lovely dress, I want it!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! You didn't even know you were that fashionable but here you are in Valentino.
ReplyDeleteHah - I loved that dress on you - so sophisticated. And Mette-Marit does not look half as good in hers. The yellow is not her color at all - she's a classic "summer".
ReplyDeleteWow I had NO idea that was a copy of a Valentino dress, how cool! Usually when Knip do runway inspired patterns, they show the runway photos, but maybe they couldn't get the rights clearance this time and did it the sneaky way?
ReplyDeleteIn any case, this dress is still on my "Must sew" list, and I've got all the details in my phone to buy some fabric for it while in NYC.
