I've made the difficult decision to stop blogging. After more than 2 years it's enough and I'm going to spend less time at my computer for sewing related subjects and will be sewing without publishing about it on my blog. All in all it's taking up quite a bit of time, I'm going to spend that time otherwise.
I intend to keep writing reviews at Pattern Review. In blogland I'll be lurking, and not actively comment, at least for now.
The Chanel-style jacket will be posted in the sew-along, which I find very inspiring.
Thank you all for reading my blog, and I want to thank especially those of you who made (regular) comments. As most bloggers I loved to read the comments, you made me really feel part of the sewing community.
Happy sewing to all of you,
Sigrid
ETA: thank you so much for all your kind comments on this post. I'm very touched to read them.
I have no intention to close the sewing tutorials blog and will try to keep it (more or less) up to date. My blogs and the information that is in it will remain accessible.
As much as I understand how time consuming blogging about sewing is, I really regret your decision. Your blog has been great to follow! Thank you for letting us follow your sewing adventures. :-)
ReplyDeleteDear Sigrid
ReplyDeleteI have been lurking and loving your blog for a very long time. I dont blog myself (becourse of the time issue) I wish you happy sewing and good luck.
Love Anette, Denmark

I understand your decision, but I will miss your voice and your point of view. I will miss clicking to see what you are working on and seeing your creative process. Good luck in everything you do and sew.
ReplyDeleteLove,
Nancy
All the best Sigrid, thanks for the time you put into blogging and for the lingerie sew-along. Its been appreciated. Happy sewing.
ReplyDeleteThanks for all the time and effort you have put into sharing your knowledge and skills with us. I, for one, have really benefitted from and appreciated all you have done. Of course, I've also been enabled to head off in different sewing directions, too, at times, but that's what growth is all about, right?
ReplyDeleteKelley
Thanks for a great blog with some very inspiring post.
ReplyDeleteSorry to see you go! It's been sharing sewing projects with you. I've especially apreciated the tutorial index you put together, hope that remains accessible.
ReplyDeleteHappy sewing!
I'll be sorry to see you go, but I understand your decision. All the best in your endeavours and I hope I'll "see" you around!
ReplyDeleteSigrid, I'll miss seeing your blog too. But does this mean that your tips blog will not be added to? It's one of if not the best source of such information on the www!
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing your love of sewing with us. It has been wonderful reading about your clothing creations.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, but I completely understand. I have been thinking about the same thing and I have only been blogging a few months. It does take up alot of time.
ReplyDeleteThank you for all of the time, energy and inspiration that you have provided. I really appreciate your generosity and wish you well.
ReplyDeleteAwwwwww. :( I understand but man, I wish it weren't true. You've helped me through a lot of construction techniques whether you knew it or not.
ReplyDeleteI will miss your expertise Sigrid, but I guess you thought long and hard about this. Enjoy the time you are going to have, it will be filled with something else soon enough. Thank you!
ReplyDeleteAlthough I am not part of the regular blogging community, more of the lurking type, I will truly miss your blog. Your lingerie posts were my favorite, since I find myself part of the community that rtw bras really do not fit. As you leave I am inspired to try my own bras. You deserve the time to other things. With much respect....Trina
ReplyDeleteYou'll be missed, Sigrid. I've really enjoyed following your blog. Your knowledge has been invaluable at time. Blogging does take up alot of time, as I'm finding out now. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteSigh. I'm sad to hear about your decision--your blog is one that I enjoy reading and following along. I *do* understand about your decision. Your blog is very professional and full of useful details. I can see the time that you have invested into it. I do want to THANK YOU for sharing your work and sewing insights for the past two years. I'm glad that I will be able to follow your sewing through PR. Have fun with your new free time!

I too will miss your voice! I remember discovering your blog several years ago and how wonderful it was to read about your sewing adventures. I'd never seen anyone make the kind of amazing lingerie that you create and your adventures with Burda and your daughter's clothing have been interesting to follow.
ReplyDeleteI may not have commented much lately but that was due to the limited amount of time that I had. But I always read your posts!
You will be missed!
Sigrid, I'm truly sorry to see you go. Your posts were always interesting, informative, honest, and helpful. But that's just it, isn't it. To write such posts take a lot of time and effort. So I understand. If there is a way for you to keep your tutorials we will all be grateful, and maybe- just maybe, when you're sewing, another one comes to mind, you could possibly be inspired to write more :)) I will see you at PR and I wish you all the best.
ReplyDeleteHTH,
Birgitte
Dear Sigrid
ReplyDeleteI echo all the comments, and will miss your blog greatly,I would like to second the hope that you will leave your tutorials up,and maybe you blog as well??
best wishes Valerie
Sigrid, Let me just say, I understand! You have contributed so much to the sewing community- the tutorials and the links and all of your projects. I will miss your blog posts, but I know you will still be around, to that's OK. And of course, you can always blog again whenever you feel the urge.
ReplyDeleteSigrid, I hate to see you go, but totally understand the time that can be sucked up spent sitting in front of the computer for one reason or another. You have been generous in sharing your inspiration and expertise--I'll miss checking in to see what you have been creating!

Waaaaaa.Thank you for all advice you have given. Please stop by sometime. I will miss you, but I understand......
ReplyDeleteOh no! Completely understand however. Thanks for all the posts you have made, the lingerie sew along and the index of tips. Will miss you.
ReplyDeleteI have loved reading your blog and have learned so much from your adventures in lingerie sewing. You're one of the reasons I started in the first place! Enjoy your time sewing! We'll miss you Sigrid!
ReplyDeleteSigrid, thank you for the last two years. I've always enjoyed reading your blog. I know it must have been a hard decision to make but I totally understand. Blogging takes up so much time and energy. I don't know how many times I've wanted to stop blogging myself. Enjoy your new found sewing time and don't waste it working. ;)
ReplyDeleteI understand how you feel. You will be missed. I have appreciated your posts in the months I've been blogging. Come back some time.
ReplyDeleteI will miss your posts Sigrid, but I understand where you're coming from. BTW, I still feel guilty that I never got around to participating in the lingerie sewalong blog that you worked so hard to put together! See you on PR.
ReplyDeleteI will miss your blog. Your sewing was always inspiring.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your sewing with us!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to add my voice to everyone else's. I completely understand but thank you for all the wonderful posts you have put up. It has been very inspiring and an eye opener for me :-)

Well, what can I say what wasn't said before - It's sad to see yo 'go', but understandable. I wish you Good Luck with everything... and we'll probably 'see' each other around.... :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm really sad that you will stop blogging about your wonderful creations! I can understand your decision and i am glad that you are not stopping sewing at all and that you continue posting on Patternreview.
ReplyDeleteBest wishes and happy sewing, senaSews
Thanks for all your funny, useful and beautiful posts. The internet pretty much has taught me how to sew, and in that regard you have been one of my teachers. Thanks again, and I will certainly be following you on patternreview.
ReplyDeleteSigrid .- all the best for you. I hope your absence only temporarily.
ReplyDeletegreetings, Paco
I so enjoyed "knowing" another sewing sister with a teenage daughter, and I'm sorry you won't be blogging anymore. Blogging can be an additional chore on top of an already busy life, so I understand your decision. Lately I've been thinking about quitting blogging too, but I think I will just blog less and not worry about it. I'll look for you on PR.
ReplyDeleteI certainly will miss you and your inspiration. Thank you for all you have done and allowing us to follow your journeys. All the best to you for whatever you do in the future.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your added sewing time. I've enjoyed your blog and appreciate all that you've shared. Keep learning and trying new things!
ReplyDeleteBest wishes!
Miriam
Sometimes I wonder how much sewing I'd get done if I just walked away from my computer...so I understand! And I know how much I'd miss all my bloggy friends, so I know it was a hard choice! But you have to do what you have to do. I hope you can use your 'extra' time to make many more beautiful things...and thank you so much for the sharing you have done and your work w/the tutorials! You've been a great inspiration to many!
ReplyDeleteAll the best and thank you for your time and effort Sigrid. Enjoy all the extra time you will now have for other things.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteI was a lurker, Sigrid, but I'll miss you here in blogland. Please use all the former blogging time for sewing and other things that make you happy. No dithering it away on housework or other chores! Thank you for all the time and energy you gave us.
ReplyDeletech
I suspect you're going to love disconnecting from the blog. I know I sure did and did some of my best work while off line.
ReplyDeleteSo, I wish good and sweet times in the sewing room for you and do hope that you'll pop back up again. Design well!
ReplyDeleteSorry... but understanding. Take care and hopefully pop back in now and then.
ReplyDeleteTerri
Hi Sigrid, I've really enjoyed reading your blog (when I started following blogs yours was the second one I bookmarked!) and will miss seeing your lovely creations.
ReplyDeleteBut I totally understand your decision, I would love to have a blog but would never find the time. I echo the sentiments of the others and thank you for the wonderful information so generously shared with us all. It is people like yourself who have really increased my knowledge of sewing and I am very grateful.
Thank you so much for leaving us with your tutorials, I will certainly refer to them in future, enjoy your new "me" time!
Tot siens!
I'll will miss you my friend. I do understand your reasoning, and I suspect that all of us will be entering and leaving the blogging world over time. I hope you continue to read your favouite blogs and post comments once in a while to let us all know you are still around. Thanks for all your incredible blog postings over the past two years, the amazing tutorials- you are the reason I have started writing some tutorials- and your kind advice to those needing it. You will be missed!
ReplyDeleteI won't say anything new. Thank you, your blog has contributed a lot to improve my sewing knowledge and to start my own blog early this year.
ReplyDeleteI perfectly understand your decision and I still have time left for sewing.
Before following you, I didn't know that we could make our own lingerie.
Your tutorial blog is invaluable.
I'll keep folling you on CHANEL SAL and PR
Good Luck
Thank you so much for the two years that you did blog and share with us. You're blog posts have been wonderful, and while I didn't always take time to comment, I always took time to read. I'll continue to following your reviews on PR - and Happy Sewing!
ReplyDeleteSigrid all the best in your sewing endeavors. I will miss reading your posts but understand your decision.
ReplyDeleteTake Care.
I completely understand your feelings Sigrid. It's hard work for me to keep on top of my blog (clearly evident by my lack of posts lately). I started mine as a journal for me to keep track of what I was doing and find it fun to post at times, but I feel it takes away from my productivity too and like I'm wasting time. Over the summer I've tried to cut back on all my online reading. Now that school has started, it will be the true test if I am really getting more done. ;-) See you on PR! :-)
ReplyDeleteYour decision has actually been an encouragement to me. For a time I was such an active blogger, now I can not even keep up with my favorite blogs, let alone keep up my own. I really enjoy the feedback, but this year it just seems that my time is so limited. I can either spend that time sewing or blogging. However, since I do not have any friends that sew in my area, I will keep up with PR (like you) and try to keep up with my blog on a much less frequent basis. We will all miss reading your posts.
ReplyDeleteI hate to read you are leaving the bloggers world. Though I do know that it is time consuming. Like now I have been reading blogs for almost 30 minutes but they are so informative most of the time. Maybe taking a hiatus will allow you to come back later. I will look for your reviews at PR as they are so helpful and thanks for keeping the sewing tutorials going.
ReplyDeleteSigrid, I completely understand about the time issue. Perhaps you'll reconsider, maybe twice a month blogging with a glass of wine in hand? That's when I catch up on blog reading--later on a Saturday night with a good, stiff drink in hand ;) .
ReplyDeleteOMG! So sorry to see this. You will be sorely missed. Thanks for all your help, and inpiration! I certainly understand your decision, just sad about it. Good Luck to you!
ReplyDeleteOh, forgot to add late last night, you will be VERY much missed in the blog world. You have been a huge inspiration to me and because of you, I've embarked on the new sewing direction of making lingerie. I've seen lots of bras and panties, but only yours have actually motivated me enough to do something about and start making them.
ReplyDeleteSigrid, you took the decision at the same moment I am think about closing my blog too. I understand your point of view so much. I will miss reading you... though I was not a regular comment on your blog. Happy sewing !
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to see you've stopped blogging, Sigrid. You'll be missed!
ReplyDeleteThat being said, we cannot but understand and respect your decision.
Above all, thank you for all you've brought us. Your blog is, and will definitely remain, one my top inspirations.
Happy sewing! I wish you all the very best.
I'll miss your blog! Good luck to you!
ReplyDeleteI have been so off-line now for almost 6 months, but just heard of your exit from blogland and had to stop by to wish you all the best. I think that sewing blogland has been richer for your having been here. Thank you for all the time you've spent sharing your sewing expertise and your experiences.
ReplyDeleteHope to see you around PR or SG now and then. Hugs Sigrid, and au revoir.
Marji
It's sad to lose a blog I enjoy visiting! But I do understand. And not everyone is a "blogger". I think alot of the sewing community feels like the should be blogging too, and it really is a time committment. I started blogging years ago as a personal endeavor, and it morphed into the sewing blog it's become (with shades of my original personal blog of course! I ramble.) I've never wanted to stop, but I did take a short break this year. I was afraid I had run out of things to say!!
ReplyDeleteI'm happy you'll still be on PR though! Your blog will be missed.
