Sometimes you have a problem like the pants fitting that I posted about yesterday that keeps going on in your mind. That was the case for me with these pants. When I read the comments this morning I was very grateful for all your suggestions and encouragements. I realized that I had better go back to my first muslin , which was not so bad. I just had to make a change right away and this is the result. It's better then the first muslin, don't you think?
And this is all I did to change it:
I made a cut in the back pattern from the crotch to approximately 20 cm down and shifted the center a bit outward. On the leg in the top of the picture I did sew the extra piece of fabric on the outside of the pants, oops, but the change is similar on both legs. I'm more confident now to sew the final version.
Wow, that muslin looks amazing. I would be ecstatic if I had a muslin that made my butt look that good!
ReplyDeleteLooking great, Sigrid! It's really amazing how a supremely fitted pants are like an instant weight loss too. I noticed this when I took the pants muslin class. However, I have noticed the muslin to fashion fabric fit change which has resulted in me using 1" seam allowances for both the side seam and inseam. Supposedly, my perfect pants pattern which I self drafted is sitting in the bottom drawer of my sewing bin. So much to sew, so little time :( . But I do need to make matching capris for a summer top made last August.
ReplyDeleteSigrid, that is a great fix, the muslin looks fantastic.
ReplyDeleteSigrid....what a difference!
ReplyDeleteInterestingly (or not, LOL) I need to make almost the exact same pattern
alteration to most of my pants patterns too!
Perfect! This is the fit you want. It also makes you look like you lost 10 pounds. Fantastic. Now you have to transfer this to your pattern and make it your tnt.
ReplyDeleteLooking good! Wrinkles are gone. Nice job.
ReplyDeleteWow!
ReplyDeleteFabulous fit.
What a difference. I'm curious as to how you came up with this fix. Is it a fix recommended in one of the many Fit books available?
That muslin looks really good to me.

ReplyDeleteUm, wow - that little fix really did it! Nice job.
ReplyDeleteThis muslin looks really good. Very flattering. So you added some more space in the back inseam area to five more room/width?
