Knip mode is a Dutch pattern magazine, like BWOF. It's only available in Dutch, but is used by quite a few ladies who don't speak that language. It's not that difficult when you're familiar with the way these pattern magazines work. I use Patrones sometimes, while I don't speak Spanish. No problem at all. Summerset wrote a great series on how to use these magazines if you're not familiar with them.
I do have mixed feelings about Knip Mode: sometimes I like some of the patterns, more oftenI find nothing to my liking. For that reason I don't have a subscription, but buy it occassionally. The March issue (that some found so nice) was a disappointment and will not be used by me. Last weekend I bought the May issue, and that has quite some nice patterns, and even an extra insert with 5 skirt patterns. I think they are good in that: skirt patterns with a twist.
Another theme is folding, I don't know whether I'll find the time, but some nice options here.
And the most aweful pattern (my personal opinion of course) is this parka. I don't like the pattern, the fabric used and the way the fabric is cut (I'm one of those matching plaids and stripes, sorry). Not inspiring at all!
But if you like skirts with a twist, this might be a good issue for you. Now I must find some time for sewing.
I have to agree on that parka! I don't like them anyway (and it's driving me crazy that BWOF has printed about 12 patterns for them recently). Knip Mode is fun, I wish it was easier to get.
ReplyDeleteHumm, the clothes seem to be very loose fitting, not my style either. I totally agree for the Parka. They could have taken the time to match the lines. For the pocket, biais would have been a good idea. The only positive point I see is the fact that they suggest different looks for each item. I am certain that you will find inspiration in your BWOF.
ReplyDeleteThat parka is god awful. But, the skirt with the two prints is awesome. I have to say, I've seen great skirts from KM (thanks to you!). Someone also told me that next month will have 40 dress patterns to celebrate their anniversary!!
ReplyDeleteYuck! That parka really is ugly! I haven't bought any Knip Mode in a while because there just hasn't been anything great enough in them. I do like the skirts. Too bad my sil is not going to Amsterdam until June. I'll have to look for it on ebay.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the preview! I just had a peek at the line drawings on Stoffe-art's ebay shop and the trousers £12 with the wrap-around waistband really stuck out as a winner for me. I'm on a bit of a KnipMode kick right now, but there's really only ever one or two things in each issue that I love. But I'd realistically not be able to make more than that anyway, I figure!
ReplyDeleteThat parka really is hideous, though!!
The parka is not to my liking at all either. The folding does look interesting.
ReplyDeleteI would love to get a closer look at what seems to be a black jacket with some ruffle trim down the front on the Vouwerk (sp?) pattern. It looks intriguing!
ReplyDeleteI love manipulating fabric, so the folding looks like it would be fun.
ReplyDeleteThanks for mentioning me! That parka doesn't do anything for me, either. Knipmode is like any pattern company, it is either hit or miss.
ReplyDeleteI'm really digging the skirt with the different print fabric. I have just started with BWOF, I'll have to look into Knip Mode.
ReplyDeleteI don't think I can find Knip Mode magazines in Portugal. I see some interesting models there...
