Vogue 1064 – finished at last

It took me ages to finish the jacket. This was not because of the pattern, it isn’t that difficult. You know how it goes: other priorities, the weather was very good for a few weeks with summer temperatures here, not the weather to sew a winter jacket and more of such things. It also made/makes me reading only very few blog posts of other bloggers, rarely commenting too. I apologize for that, I love to read on sewing and get inspiration from all of you who blog. It’s just the way it is right now.

This is the result on me:

I’ve sewn a black pair of trousers (very much needed) as well, but they still needed a final press. Today a family member was available to make pictures during daylight, so you see it with my old jeans and I didn’t bother for the black trousers to be pressed first ;).

Back and side view. I might add a chain to the hem as in a Chanel jacket. This fabric might need it, especially in the back. I took out some space from center back. After doing the muslin I added a fba and did not make a new muslin. Then when the body was made it was too wide in the back. It already showed a little in the muslin, but after adding to the front it was too much.

The very bright fuchsia lining:

Sleeve detail. In this picture you can see the fabric and its colors best.

Mostly I followed the instructions, only added hair canvas interfacing on part of the front and a back stay of silk organza, which I’ve done in previous jackets. It is a really nice pattern and I would like to make it in a plain fabric sometime, which will show the darts better.

The review on Pattern Review is here.

The colors of the fabric are gorgeous. Very nice jacket. I like it worn with jeans but I think it will be fantastic with black pants.

Gorgeous. I really love the colors on you and the fit is lovely. Maybe it is a tad to wide in the back, but honestly if you hadn't said anything I wouldn't have noticed. It's really nice design as well. I bet you'll wear it a lot.

You look sooo lovely, Sigrid. The jacket is beautiful and fits perfectly. I like it with the jeans. :) (My life is such that I don't think I'd have a reason to wear s suit, so it's nice to see it styled more casually.)

It turned out really well! It's lovely. And I even like it with your jeans:-)
I had a tweed jacket that took forever to finish too, for all the same reasons.

What a wonderful jacket. You look terrific in it. The fabric is beautiful and you have made the most of it. The darts may not stand out as a design feature but the fit is so good, they are doing their job.

Terrific jacket, beautifully tailored, as always. That jacket looks great with jeans, and will also be perfect with a skirt or dress pants.

That's a beautiful little jacket, and I agree with many others that it looks great with the jeans (the contrast perhaps?)

Love this jacket and exactly how you have styled it since jeans fit my lifestyle and body type. Beautiful colors on you and I really like the neckline framing your face and those great sleeve vents.

Lovely jacket, both the colors and the fit. I love multicolored tweed jackets because they can be worn with so many other garments. I was surprised this fabric worked so well with all the vertical darts and didn't create bulk. I have this pattern in my collection and I am so impressed with the fit of your jacket, I want to find it and make it in some winter wools.
