Quick fix

Sometimes you have a problem like the pants fitting that I posted about yesterday that keeps going on in your mind. That was the case for me with these pants. When I read the comments this morning I was very grateful for all your suggestions and encouragements. I realized that I had better go back to my first muslin , which was not so bad. I just had to make a change right away and this is the result. It's better then the first muslin, don't you think?

And this is all I did to change it:

I made a cut in the back pattern from the crotch to approximately 20 cm down and shifted the center a bit outward. On the leg in the top of the picture I did sew the extra piece  of fabric on the outside of the pants, oops, but the change is similar on both legs. I'm more confident now to sew the final version.

  2. Looking great, Sigrid! It's really amazing how a supremely fitted pants are like an instant weight loss too. I noticed this when I took the pants muslin class. However, I have noticed the muslin to fashion fabric fit change which has resulted in me using 1" seam allowances for both the side seam and inseam. Supposedly, my perfect pants pattern which I self drafted is sitting in the bottom drawer of my sewing bin. So much to sew, so little time :( . But I do need to make matching capris for a summer top made last August.

  4. Sigrid....what a difference!

Interestingly (or not, LOL) I need to make almost the exact same pattern
alteration to most of my pants patterns too!

    Fabulous fit.
What a difference. I'm curious as to how you came up with this fix. Is it a fix recommended in one of the many Fit books available?
